Alien Hunter
This is Alien Hunter, my week 3 assignment of "Game Design and Development 1: 2D Shooter" Coursera course.
Modifications:
- (Significant) Changed menu music, level music, game over jingle & win jingle to my own tracks.
- (Significant) Added a boss enemy in the third level. The boss has its own animated sprite (based on the supplied enemy sprites) and shoots in a unique pattern - straight, with two guns and increased speed in comparison to regular enemies.
- (Significant) Added a spread power-up, inspired by classic games like Contra. The power-up can be stacked, resulting in increased spread and parallel projectile count. There's one power-up in Level 1, two in Level 2 and four in Level 3.
- The boss enemy and the player have their health indicators. For the boss it's a health bar at the top of the screen. For the player, it's a lives counter.
- Every shot's pitch is varied by a small factor resulting in a slightly more natural shooting sound.
- The levels are slightly larger.
- There are enemy spawners in Levels 2 & 3.
- Tweaked overall game balance.
- Added simple instructions in the menu.
